BOISE — Sydney Sallabanks, an experienced strategic communications professional who has most recently served as regional communications manager for the University of Idaho in Boise, has joined the Boise office of The Gallatin Group, a Pacific Northwest-based public affairs firm.

Sallabanks will be a Principal with The Gallatin Group and becomes a key member of the firm’s strategic communications and media relations practice group. She will assist the firm’s clients with communications, issues management, public affairs and public relations.

“Sydney is a true communications professional with broad experience in Idaho,” said Marc C. Johnson, president of The Gallatin Group. “She is a terrific writer and communicator who has successfully managed a wide variety of issues and projects. We are delighted Sydney is joining our team.”

“In the last two years we’ve added significant talent to our growing office, and Sydney adds additional skill and depth to our ability to meet the strategic communications needs of our clients,” Johnson said.

Sallabanks has been with the University of Idaho since 2001 and before that held a variety of public affairs and marketing positions in the public and private sectors. A graduate of the University of Oregon School of Journalism, Sallabanks serves on the board of the Idaho Press Club and is active with Capitol City Communicators and the Boise Advertising Federation.

She is a long-term volunteer with Junior League of Boise, Big/Brother Big Sister of Southwest Idaho and the St. Luke’s Women’s Fitness Celebration. She was named Idaho Business Review “Woman of the Year” and has been recognized as one of Boise’s “Accomplished under 40” young professionals.

Sallabanks recently authored articles on Boise that appeared in United Airlines Hemispheres magazine.

The Excellence in Nonprofit Communications (ENC) program was launched in 2008 after Toni Broadbent, owner of Allegra Print & Imaging in Helena, approached MNA Executive Director, Brian Magee, about ways to assist local nonprofits in strengthening their communication efforts. Toni and Brian approached other potential partners who could play a key role in providing consulting services, products, or financial assistance to the program.
