John Kotek, an energy policy expert and former deputy manager of the Idaho National Laboratory, has joined The Gallatin Group. He will divide his time between Idaho at The Gallatin Group's Washington, D.C. office. Kotek has most recently been a principal with Washington Policy and Analysis, a consulting firm that provides strategic energy policy advice to U.S. and international clients. In addition to his experience with the Department of Energy in Idaho and Washington, D.C., Kotek served as a congressional fellow on the staff of Democratic Sen. Jeff Bingaman of New Mexico.
Kotek worked for Argonne National Laboratory-West in Idaho as the Generation IV and Nuclear Hydrogen Programs manager. He held a variety of positions during his nine years with the Department of Energy, including associate director of technology, associate director for management and chief of staff. In 2002, Kotek was the American Nuclear Society's Glenn T. Seaborg Congressional Fellow in Bingaman's office. He began his career with the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Nuclear Energy, Science and Technology. Kotek earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Illinois and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Maryland.
