The Seattle-native and former aide to Rep. Adam Smith and Sen. Barbara Boxer brings deep Northwest roots and six years of private sector government relations experience to the firm

The Gallatin Group is pleased to announce that Joe Hardy has joined the firm as a Partner to lead and manage our Washington, D.C. office. For the past six years, Joe has been a Vice President with SMI, Inc. a full-service Washington, D.C.-based government relations firm. 
 
At SMI, Joe specialized in defense and technology policy and appropriations.  Joe will continue those practice areas with Gallatin and expand them to include a focus on policy and appropriations in health care, tax, trade, natural resources and higher education.
 
Previously, Joe worked on Capitol Hill for Rep. Adam Smith (D-Washington) and Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-California). Prior to working on Capitol Hill, Joe served as Finance Director for Adam Smith’s 1996 congressional campaign and worked on a variety of state and local political campaigns in Missouri.

As Washington, D.C. Partner, Joe will be responsible for leading the firm’s federal government relations practice, continuing to build The Gallatin Group’s WestNet partership (www.westnetalliance.com), and contributing to the overall strategy and management of the firm.

Born in Seattle, Joe attended Mercer Island High School and earned his BA in Political Science from Washington State University in Pullman. He also holds a Masters of Public Policy Administration from the University of Missouri. Joe and his wife, Bethany, live in Arlington, Virginia with their 4-month old son, Kian.
