ANALYSIS
As the largest hospital in the region, Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Wash., receives constant media attention on a wide variety of issues ranging from capital building projects to labor negotiations to medical crises. Hospital executives recognized the need to more effectively communicate their perspective to the public through the media.
ADVOCACY
Sacred Heart Medical Center hired Gallatin to provide media training to key executives. The training provided executives with real-life scenarios to help them develop and effectively deliver key messages to the media even under the most difficult circumstances.
ADVANTAGE
The training was soon put into practice when SHMC was inundated with media attention after a shooting at a local high school. SHMC CEO Skip Davis described in a recent news article how helpful the training was to hospital management: “We had to gear up and be prepared. We typically don’t think like journalists, and it’s important for us to understand what’s important to you all (reporters) and how we can best respond to that effectively.”
“Our colleagues at The Gallatin Group bring a strategic focus to the art of communication, and we particularly appreciate their common-sense approach and depth of experience.”
