A Regulatory Process Expert

“Finding your way through state and Federal regulatory processes takes patience, skill, and experience. With nearly 20 years and more than 50 projects navigated through regulatory processes, I’ve learned that even the most thorough and scientifically sound analysis has little benefit if it is not effectively communicated to public participants, resource agencies, the media, and decision-makers. I help clients keep projects off the rocks by communicating effectively to broaden support and minimize controversy.”

For nearly 20 years, Darryl James has led planning, engineering and public affairs teams on dozens of major infrastructure and community development projects. His educational training and professional background in environmental law and natural resource policy provided a strong foundation for his success in building a reputable practice in the environmental regulatory arena.

Darryl’s current practice includes the facilitation of innovative energy projects to maintain quality of life and fuel economic growth throughout the Pacific Northwest. His management experience of the engineering, technical, and regulatory aspects of large and often controversial projects proves to be a valuable asset to our team.

Darryl earned an undergraduate degree at the University of Denver in Political Science and Public Affairs, and a Masters Degree in Public Administration at the University of Colorado. Darryl is a partner in the Helena office of Gallatin Public Affairs, and is a member of the Energy Policy and Facility Siting, Natural Resources, State and Local Government Relations, and Research and Public Opinion practice groups.
