Over a career stretching back to the mid-1970’s, John Etchart has dealt with political, media, and government affairs issues all over the West. While focused in energy and transportation, his experience extends to natural resources, mining, and manufacturing as well as health care and education.
At Gallatin Public Affairs, Etchart established the Montana office and now continues to advise and assist clients as a “Senior Partner”.
Etchart is among the most well-known consultants in the Pacific Northwest, having served on and chaired the Northwest Power Council for Montana Governor Marc Racicot. John’s reputation also is derived from his years as Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs at Burlington Northern.
John serves on the board of, and provides ongoing counsel to Tonbridge Power of Toronto, which is building the nation’s first trans-border merchant powerline connecting the Montana and Alberta grid system. He has also been a consultant to Washington Companies, National Grid, Plum Creek Timber, and Summit Aeronautics.
Etchart is a native Montanan and member of the pioneering Basque family, long recognized as the state’s best livestock producers. He is a former USMC infantry officer (Vietnam) and a graduate of Carroll College in Helena.
