Marc Johnson

President, Boise

208-336-1986

For more than 30 years, Marc Johnson has reported on, helped shape and counseled clients on public policy in Idaho and the Northwest.

Marc is President of Gallatin Public Affairs and a Partner in the Boise office.

Marc has developed public affairs and communications strategies for Idaho and national clients, in the areas of timber, mining, health care, energy and higher education, among others.  He is a frequent author of newspaper and magazine pieces on political and public policy and is regularly called up to comment on public policy, the media and political history.
Prior to joining Gallatin, Marc helped engineer Governor Cecil D. Andrus return to Idaho elective politics and served as both press secretary and chief of staff to Idaho’s only four term governor.  As the volunteer president of The Andrus Center for Public Policy, Marc has facilitated public policy conferences on issues as diverse as western water and national security and moderated panels featuring David Broder of the Washington Post, Tim Egan of the New York Times as well as current and former members of Congress and the Cabinet.

On policy matters, Marc helped Idaho’s largest hospital system secure public support at the polls for a major hospital merger, has counseled the President and the University of Idaho on public affairs and media strategy, advised the state court system on public outreach, and helped site projects, including energy facilities and a new mine, as well as preserve a pristine spot where Lewis and Clark camped in Idaho.

A political history buff, Marc has chaired the Idaho Humanities Council as well as the Federation of State Humanities Councils.  He and his wife have two sons.
